Lussac-les-Châteaux is a western French municipality with 2318 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Montmorillon and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Lussac-les-Châteaux . The inhabitants are called Lussacois .
geography
Lussac-les-Châteaux is located on the east bank of the Vienne river about 36 kilometers southeast of Poitiers . Lussac-les-Châteaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Civaux in the north and northwest, Chapelle-Viviers in the north, Sillars in the east, Persac in the south, Gouex in the southwest and Mazerolles in the west.
Route nationale 147 and the earlier routes nationales 727 and 749 run through the municipality .
