Payroux is a French municipality with 490 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Montmorillon and the canton of Civray (until 2015 Charroux ). The inhabitants are called Payrousiens .

location

Payroux is located about 48 kilometers south-southeast of Poitiers on the Payroux river of the same name , at its confluence with the Clain . Payroux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Jossé in the north and north-west, Château-Garnier in the north, Usson-du-Poitou in the north-east, Saint-Martin-l'Ars in the east, Mauprévoir in the south and south-east, Charroux in the south-west and La Chapelle-Bâton in the west and southwest.
