Chaunay is a French village with 1,212 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Arrondissement Montmorillon , in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it is part of the canton of Lusignan (until 2015: canton of Couhé ). The inhabitants are called Chaunaisiens .

geography

Chaunay is about 44 kilometers south-southwest of Poitiers on the Bouleure River . Chaunay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Brux in the north, Blanzay and Champagné-le-Sec in the east, Linazay in the south-east, Limalonges in the south, Pliboux in the south and south-west, Caunay in the west and Vanzay in the north-west.

The National Route 10 runs through the municipality .
