Valdivienne is a western French municipality with 2747 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montmorillon and the canton of Chauvigny . The inhabitants are called Valdiviennois .

geography

Valdivienne is located about 25 kilometers south-east of Poitiers on the Vienne River , where the Dive flows into. Valdivienne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chauvigny in the north and east, Chapelle-Viviers in the southeast, Civaux in the south, Lhommaizé in the southwest, Fleuré and Tercé in the west and Pouillé in the northwest.

In 1969 the municipality was formed by the merger of the municipalities of Morthemer , Salles-en-Toulon and Saint-Martin-la-Rivière .
