The Canton Chauvigny is a French constituency in the arrondissements Chatellerault , Montmorillon and Poitiers in Vienne, in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; its main town is Chauvigny . Alain Fouché ( UMP ) has been a representative in the General Council of the Département since 1979 .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the eight municipalities of Chapelle-Viviers , Chauvigny , Fleix , Lauthiers , Leignes-sur-Fontaine , Paizay-le-Sec , Sainte-Radégonde and Valdivienne belonged to the canton of Chauvigny . Its layout corresponded to an area of 269.10 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8604.
