Bonneuil-Matours is a French commune with a population of 2,104 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Châtellerault , the canton Chauvigny (until 2015: canton Vouneuil-sur-Vienne ) and the communal association Communauté d'agglomération du Pays Châtelleraudais . The inhabitants are called Bonnimatois .

Bonneuil-Matours is located on the Vienne River about 20 kilometers northeast of Poitiers . Bonneuil-Matours is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vouneuil-sur-Vienne in the north, Monthoiron in the northeast, Archigny in the east and southeast, Bellefonds in the south and southeast, La Chapelle-Moulière in the south and southwest, Saint-Georges-lès-Baillargeaux and Dissay in the west and Saint-Cyr in the northwest.
