Antran is a municipality with 1192 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ) in the central west of France . It belongs to the canton of Châtellerault-2 (until 2015: canton of Saint-Gervais-les-Trois-Clochers ) in the arrondissement of Châtellerault . The inhabitants are called Antranais .
geography
Antran is located about three kilometers north of the city center of Châtellerault on the Vienne in the Pays Châtelleraudais . Antran is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vellèches in the north, Vaux-sur-Vienne in the northeast, Ingrandes in the east, Châtellerault in the south, Thuré in the southwest and Usseau in the west.
The A10 car route runs along the western edge of the municipality .
