Scorbé-Clairvaux is a French municipality with 2259 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Châtellerault and the canton of Châtellerault-1 (until 2015: canton of Lencloître ).
The municipality consists of the two localities Scorbé and Clairvaux .
geography
Scorbé-Clairvaux is about 26 kilometers north-northeast of Poitiers and about nine kilometers west of Châtellerault in southern Anjou . Scorbé-Clairvaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Thuré in the north and east, Colombiers in the south and south-east, Marigny-Brizay in the south, Ouzilly in the south-west and Saint-Genest-d'Ambière in the west.
The former route nationale 725 (today's D725) runs through the municipality .
history
Scorbé has been known as a settlement since the 1st century AD. Clairvaux (also known as Clervaux ) is similarly old, but first mentioned since the 11th century. The numerous stately homes testify to the strategic importance of the places.
