The Canton Moncontour was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement Châtellerault in the department of Vienne and the region Poitou-Charentes ; its main town was Moncontour . His representative in the General Council of the Département was Edouard Renaud ( UDI ) from 2004 to 2015 .

The canton was in the northwest of the Vienne department. In the west it borders on the Deux-Sèvres department , in the north on the canton Loudun , in the east on the canton Monts-sur-Guesnes and in the south on the canton Mirebeau . It was on average 92 meters above sea level , between 51 m in Moncontour and 142 m in Craon .
