La Chapelle-Bâton is a western French city and a municipality ( commune ) with 357 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Montmorillon and the canton of Civray (until 2015 Charroux ). The inhabitants are called chapellois .

La Chapelle-Bâton is about 50 kilometers south of Poitiers . La Chapelle-Bâton is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Romain in the north and north-west, Château-Garnier in the north, Joussé in the north-east, Payroux in the east and north-east, Charroux in the south, Savigné in the west and south-west and Champniers in the west and north-west.
