Albert Gohlke

Albert Gohlke (born February 12, 1949 in Düsseldorf ; † January 18, 1980 ) was a German composer, cellist and music teacher.

Life

Albert Gohlke studied violoncello with Wolfgang Mehlhorn and composition with Günther Becker at the Robert Schumann Institute in Düsseldorf and graduated in 1976. He taught violoncello at the City Music School in Düsseldorf and was active as a cellist, mainly chamber music in several ensembles. In 1974 he married Waltraud Gregor, also a teacher at the Düsseldorf City Music School.

He died at the age of 30 in Esens , East Frisia.

Albert Gohlke's compositional work includes solo pieces for percussion, recorder and violoncello, chamber music and symphonic compositions. Several of his works were premiered in the concert series “3 times new” in the Neanderkirche in Düsseldorf. His compositional legacy is deposited with the Heinrich Heine Institute in Düsseldorf and contains around 20 tapes, which have now been digitized , as well as the originals and an overview of the works.
