Nouaillé-Maupertuis (even Nouaillé called) is a French commune in the department of Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It has 2,751 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and belongs to the Arrondissement of Poitiers and the canton of Vivonne .
geography
Nouaillé-Maupertuis is located about ten kilometers south-southeast of Poitiers . In the south of the village is the Bois de la Vayolle . Nouaillé-Maupertuis is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mignaloux-Beauvoir in the north, Nieuil-l'Espoir in the east and south, La Villedieu-du-Clain in the south and south-west, Roches-Prémarie-Andillé in the south-west, Smarves in the west and Saint-Benoît in the north-west.
The Via Turonensis , a variant of the Camino de Santiago , runs through the municipality .
history
As the scene of the fighting at the Battle of Poitiers in 1356 with the defeat of the French, the place is also of historical importance.
