Chalandray is located about 28 kilometers west-northwest of Poitiers on the banks of the Vendelogne River . Chalandray is surrounded by the neighboring communities Cherves in the north, Ayron in the south and east, Vasles in the south, La Ferrière-en-Parthenay in the west and south-west and Thénezay in the north-west.

The municipality's train station is on the Paris – Bordeaux line . The national route 149 runs through the municipality .
