Koubri is both a municipality ( French commune rurale ) and a department encompassing the same area in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the Center region and the province of Kadiogo . The community has 43,467 inhabitants in 26 villages.
In Koubri, south of the capital Ouagadougou , there has been a monastery of the Benedictine order since 1963 , which is known in Burkina Faso for its agricultural products - especially dairy products. As one of the first production facilities for pasteurized milk and yogurt in Burkina Faso, the monastery played an important role in the local industrialization of food production. Other milk processing companies have settled in and around Koubri in recent years.
