Malling (German Mallingen , Lorraine Malléngen ) is a French commune with 630 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region ( Lorraine until 2015 ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thionville .

geography

Malling is located on the right bank of the Moselle , 14 kilometers northeast of Thionville at an altitude between 145 and 211 m above sea level. The municipal area covers 4.42 km².

history

The place has belonged to France since 1661. The south-eastern village of Petite Hettange ( Kleinhettingen ) has belonged to the municipality of Malling since 1811 .
