Roussy-le-Village (German Rüttgen , Lorraine Rëttgen ) is a French commune with 1,369 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The inhabitants call themselves Rodossyens . Their nicknames are "Die Ranger Klepper" and "Die Hu'eren" (hawks).

geography

Roussy is about ten kilometers north of Thionville , near the border with Luxembourg . The Sainte-Cécile farm ( Sankt Cäcilienhof ) is located on the northern border of the municipality .

history

The place has belonged to France since 1769, with an interruption from 1871 to 1918 ( Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine ) and is surrounded by large forest areas.

In 1812 the neighboring village of Roussy-le-Bourg ( Rüttgen Castle ) was incorporated, and in 1826 Dodenom ( Dodenhofen ).
