Luttange (German Lüttingen ) is a French commune with 892 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

The community of Luttange is about 13 kilometers southeast of Thionville .

history

The place was first mentioned in 825 as Leutermingas and has a castle from the 13th century. Through the Peace of the Pyrenees , Thionville and the surrounding area were ceded by Luxembourg to France on November 7, 1659 .

There are serious considerations that the town's castle was the model for the fictional Ortry Castle , a main location in Karl May's colportage novelThe Uhlan's Love ” .

The northern village of Kirsch-lès-Luttange ( Kirsch bei Lüttingen ) has been incorporated since 1810 .

Transmission mast

In the north of the municipality there is a guyed steel framework mast that supplies large parts of Lorraine with TV and VHF signals. The TV and FM stations can also be received in Luxembourg , Saarland and the Trier area .
