Ottange (German Öttingen , 1940-44 Ottingen ) is a French commune with 3,043 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thionville .

geography

Ottange is located northwest of Thionville on the border with Luxembourg at an altitude between 295 and 428 meters above sea level. The municipality covers 15.48 km².

history

The place was first mentioned in 1051 as Ottingin and has belonged to France since 1766. On January 27, 1812, the previously independent municipality of Nondkeil was merged with Ottange.
