Valmestroff (German Walmesdorf ) is a French commune with 308 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thionville .

geography

Valmestroff is about seven kilometers east of Thionville at an altitude between 155 and 256 m above sea level, the mean height is 200 m. The municipal area covers 3.78 km².

history

The village was first mentioned as Wlensdorf in 1147 and has belonged to France since 1661.

From 1812 to 1923 Valmestroff was incorporated into the neighboring town of Elzange .
