Berg-sur-Moselle ( German  Berg , Lorraine Bierg ) is a French commune with 430 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thionville .

geography

Berg-sur-Moselle lies between Thionville and the border triangle France-Luxembourg-Germany on the west bank of the Moselle at an altitude of between 145 and 227 m above sea level. The municipality covers 2.91 km².

history

The community has belonged to France since 1769, with an interruption from 1871 to 1918 ( Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine ). Until 1930 the official French place name was simply Berg .
