Friedrich Kohlmeier

Friedrich Fritz Kohl Meier (* 25. December 1904 in Hagen , † 23. June 1994 in Minden ) was a German politician of the SPD and a member of the resistance group Red Strike Team.

Life and work

Friedrich Kohlmeier graduated from elementary school and then worked as a simple worker. He became a union member and joined the Central Association of Glass Workers, which later became part of the Central Association of Factory Workers in Germany. Kohlmeier was involved as the head of the factory workers Jugend Minden and as a member of the works council of a glass factory in Porta Westfalica. He was also a member of the Friends of Nature . From October 1, 1932, he attended the State College for Business and Administration in Berlin , which he had to leave after the transfer of power in 1933 as politically unreliable without a degree.

Party and resistance

First Friedrich Kohlemier joined the SAJ, since 1924 he was a member of the SPD and became chairman of the party in Lerbeck. In 1933 Kohlmeier got involved in the left-wing socialist resistance group Red Shock Troop. In 1933 he distributed the newspaper of the same name in Minden and was in contact with the Berlin leadership of the resistance group via a cover address. On another matter, he was arrested in November that year together with Wilhelm Nolting and his brother-in-law Karl Lichtenberg. Kohlmeier was first sent to Minden Prison, then to Herford Prison. So far, no information is available about a conviction and possibly punishment.

From 1945 to 1951 Friedrich Kohlmeier was a member of the Lerbeck parish council for the SPD . From 1946 to 1952 he was also a member of the day of the Hausberge office . From October 1946 he was a member of the district council of the Minden district . From 1950 to 1970 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia (constituency Minden 146/148) for the SPD and there from 1962 to 1966 deputy chairman of the transport committee.

Public offices and honors

Fritz Kohlmeier was mayor of the municipality of Lerbeck and 2nd mayor of the Hausberge department. After the death of Willy Michel, he was district administrator of the Minden district from June 1951 to December 1952 , he was replaced by the CDU politician Heinrich Wehking . In 1956 Kohlmeier was again district administrator and remained in this office until 1964, when Friedrich Schonhofen (SPD) was his successor . On September 18, 1986 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
