Halstroff (German Halsdorf , Lorraine Hoolstroff ) is a French commune with 313 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thionville . The inhabitants call themselves Halstroffois . Their nicknames are Di Hoolschtrowwer Ochsen and Di Hoolschtrowwer Biddeseecherten .

The municipality of Halstroff is located about 23 kilometers east of Thionville and five kilometers from the border with Saarland ( Biringen ). The municipality covers 10.78 km².
