Niederschaeffolsheim (German Niederschäffolsheim ; also Schaefelsheim or Schafrolsheim ) is a French commune with 1,374 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

Niederschaeffolsheim is about seven kilometers southwest of Haguenau .
Neighboring communities are Haguenau in the north, Weitbruch in the east, Kriegsheim in the south, Rottelsheim in the southwest and Batzendorf in the west.
history
In 1210 the place is mentioned for the first time under the name Skaftolfesheim . In the Middle Ages and until the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, Niederschaeffolsheim was a German imperial village .
