Wahlenheim is a French commune with 478 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the canton of Haguenau in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

geography

The street village and former imperial village is located in the Upper Rhine Plain twelve kilometers southwest of Haguenau and 24 km north of Strasbourg . The next neighboring village is Bernolsheim in the south.

history

On the occasion of a donation to the Lorsch Monastery , Wahlenheim was mentioned in the Lorsch Codex as a Walahon in 953 . Wahlenheim was an imperial village .
