Riedseltz (German: Riedselz ) is a French commune with 1,087 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

geography

The municipality of Riedseltz is not far from the border with Germany, about six kilometers south of the border town of Wissembourg . The Hausauerbach flows through Riedseltz . The vineyards around Riedseltz are among the northernmost in the Alsace wine-growing region .

history

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Riedseltz belonged as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine to the German Empire and was assigned to the Weißenburg district in the Lower Alsace district .
