Adelon (Arabic: Aadloun or Ad′loun , Latin: Ad Nonum ) was a crusader castle in what is now Lebanon .
location
The castle was on the Mediterranean coast between Sidon and Tire . In ancient times this place was probably called Ornithonpolis .
history
The rule of Adelon was apparently only after the Third Crusade or the Crusade of Henry VI. erected after the center of the Kingdom of Jerusalem was moved to Acre . At the time of the crusade of Emperor Frederick II , Adelon was of some influence. It is unclear whether the rulership was a direct vassal of the King of Jerusalem or the Count of Sidon .
Lords of Adelon were:
- Adam of Gibelet-Besmedin
- Agnes von Gibelet-Besmedin (around 1198)
- ∞ Dietrich von Termonde († 1206)
- Daniel of Termonde (around 1225)
- Daniel II of Termonde
- Peter of Avalon (around 1254)
- Jordan from Termonde
