Deer monument
The deer monument is a monument near Stolberg (Harz) in Saxony-Anhalt .
The memorial is located about a kilometer northwest of Stolberg Castle in the forest on the northern ridge that borders the Lude valley . At the front of the monument, the hiking trail leads from the castle to the tubular pond.
The standing on a pedestal black from bronze crafted Hirsch is the emblem of the town of Stolberg and the prince of Stolberg. The Harz Club had the monument to the heraldic animal erected on April 28, 1911. The forest path then served as a princely riding alley. Originally there were two medallions on the memorial, commemorating Prince Alfred von Stolberg, who died in 1903, and the Hereditary Count Wolfgang von Stolberg, who, strangely enough, died in a hunting accident only three days later. In 1945 the medallions were removed. Replicas can be found in the Stolberger Museum Alte Münze .
Is located on the pedestal the following inscription: "As long as the book is on the mountains - as long as the deer to walde goes - as long blooming Stolberg coming" on an attached below table is marked: emblem of royal house and Stolberg - Built on the 28th 4. 1911 - Harz Club 1997 .
