Daniel I of Adelon

Daniel I of Adelon (* before 1204, † after 1225) was Lord of Adelon in the Kingdom of Jerusalem .

He was the son of Dietrich von Termonde († 1206), constable of Constantinople , and Agnes von Gibelet-Besmedin, mistress of Adelon. He inherited the Adelon rule from his mother. He is also called Daniel of Termonde after his father .

In 1225 he accompanied Queen Isabella II of Jerusalem on her crossing from Tire to Brindisi , where she was married to Emperor Friedrich II .

His first marriage was to Isabella, daughter of Thomas von Maugasteau. Isabella was the sister of Philipp, the husband of Daniel's sister Maragrethe. Isabella died childless.

After Isabella's death, he married Agnes von Francleu, daughter of Gerard de Franco loco. He had the following children with her:

  • Daniel II , his successor as Lord of Adelon;
  • Agnes, ∞ Garnier l'Aleman (the younger), son of Haimo l'Aleman;
  • Isabella († after 1260), ∞ Hugo l'Aleman († before 1241), son of Garnier l'Aleman (the elder)
