Hugo l'Aleman († before 1241)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hugo l'Aleman († before March 26, 1241) was a nobleman in the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem .

He was a son of Werner von Egisheim and his wife Pavia Embriaco von Gibelet. His father was a German crusader who made a career in the French-speaking Kingdom of Jerusalem and was called Garnier l'Aleman ("Werner the German") there. After him, his descendants were also given the nickname "l'Aleman". His brother Johann rose to Lord of Caesarea through marriage .

He married Isabella († after 1260), daughter of Daniel I of Adelon . With her he had a daughter who married Johann von Gibelet († 1282), son of Heinrich I Embriaco von Gibelet .

In a deed of foundation dated March 26, 1241, Isabella is referred to as Hugo's widow, so by this point he had already died.
