Ulrich Pracht (born November 7, 1955 in Kirchen (Sieg) , Altenkirchen district , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a retired German General Staff Doctor. D. Most recently he was the commander of health facilities and deputy to the inspector of the medical service in Koblenz.

biography

After attending school, he first completed vocational training as an electrical mechanic and then, after a year of professional activity, acquired the general university entrance qualification on the so-called second educational path. In 1978 he began studying human medicine at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg and, after completing his studies in 1985, joined the German Armed Forces as a medical officer in 1986 .

First he became a specialist teacher and troop doctor at the Air Force Medical School (SanSLw) in Giebelstadt . During this time took place in 1986 and his doctorate to Dr. med. at the University of Würzburg and then his takeover as a temporary soldier . Between 1987 and 1993 he worked as a medical staff officer at the Aviation Medicine Institute of the Air Force (FlMedInstLw) in Fürstenfeldbruck , where he was also recognized as an aviator doctor in 1988 and at the same time promoted to senior staff doctor and in 1990 he was accepted as a professional soldier .

In 1993 he became an assistant doctor at the Department of Internal Medicine at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Gießen and, at the same time, completed further training in medical informatics at the Philipps University of Marburg in 1994 . He then completed the 39th General Staff Service Course of the Air Force at the Command Academy of the Federal Armed Forces (FüAkBw) in Hamburg . There he was awarded the General Heusinger Prize in 1996 as the best of his year .

After his termination he was promoted to senior field physician in 1996 and appointed head of the medical center of Air Force First Aid Squadron 61 in Penzing (Bavaria) . After completing this activity, he was a consultant in the personnel, social and central affairs department of the Federal Ministry of Defense between 1999 and 2000 .

After his promotion to senior physician , he was appointed division physician of the 3rd Air Force Division in Berlin-Gatow in 2000 . In 2001 he moved to the personnel office of the German Armed Forces (PersABw) in Cologne , where he was first head of department and then, since 2002, head of department. This was followed by a position as head of department in the management staff of the medical service from 2005 to 2008 . During this time, during Operation Althea in 2005, he was also Medical Director at the United Headquarters of EUFOR and senior German at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo .

From 2008 to 2011 Pracht was the commander of the Medical Command I in Kiel . As such, he was promoted to general doctor in 2009 . From December 2011 to December 2012, Pracht was head of the Bundeswehr Medical Service in Munich. He was promoted to General Staff Doctor in January 2012. From January 1, 2013 to July 14, 2015, he was Chief of Staff in the Medical Service Command of the Bundeswehr. Most recently he was the commander of health facilities and deputy to the inspector of the medical service. As of December 31, 2015, he was put into temporary retirement.

He is a member of the advisory board of the Clausewitz Society .

He has received several awards for his services and received the Bundeswehr Medal of Honor in 1987, the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in Bronze in 1991, the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in Silver in 2005 and the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor in Gold in 2015.
