The place is on the German-French border . The place is separated from the German place Scheibenhardt by the river Lauter . Lauterbourg is located adjacent to Scheibenhard .

history

The two places have been separate since the Congress of Vienna in 1815, as the Lauter was declared a state border at that time. From 1871 until the end of the First World War , the Scheibenhard on the right of the Lauter also belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Weißenburg district in the Lower Alsace district .
