Scheibenhardt is a municipality in the district of Germersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hagenbach community .
geography
The place is located in the southeast of Rhineland-Palatinate on the border with France . The place lies on the river Lauter , which forms the state border here. The town of Scheibenhard is located south of the Lauter in France.
history
Scheibenhardt and Scheibenhard originally formed a community until the Lauter was established as the border between Germany and France in the Second Peace of Paris in 1815 . When Alsace became part of the German Empire in 1871 , the two communities remained separate.
On June 10, 1979, part of the municipality of Wörth am Rhein with 60 inhabitants was re-municipalityed to Scheibenhardt.

In 2012, 63.5 percent of the population were Catholic and 17.3 percent Protestant. The rest belonged to another religion or were non-denominational. In 1871, out of a total of 644 inhabitants, 632 were Catholic and 12 Protestant.

Similarities
Every summer there is a bridge festival celebrated by the population. The communities Scheibenhardt and Scheibenhard are connected together to a sewage treatment plant on French territory. In addition, the children of the daycare centers in both places visit each other several times a year.
