history

The community of Kuhardt was first mentioned in 1103 when the neighboring monastery of Hördt was founded . An abbot's staff in the municipal coat of arms still reminds us of the manorial rule of the monastery. The proverbial hard work of the population made the Kuhardt brickworkers into sought-after specialists in south and south-west German kilns until before the Second World War .

Christian Schwab (CDU) became local mayor of Kuhardt in 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected for five years with a share of 54.81% of the vote. His predecessors were Roland Eiswirth (CDU, term of office 1994–2019) and Gerhard Geiger (1974–1994).
