The foundations of the flak headlight

The Kuhardt ring wall is a defunct small rampart ( hill fort ) on the top of the Kuhardt mountain west of the Usingen district of Kransberg im Taunus . The wall has an approximately round shape with a diameter of about 40 meters. It is only faintly perceptible in the terrain because it is largely flattened. A ditch can no longer be seen. Based on the amount of masonry that is in the area of the facility, it can be assumed that there were stone structures here. The timing of the wall is unclear.

A flak floodlight was erected on the wall in the east of the facility , the foundations of which can still be found today. This installation is to be assigned to the Führer Headquarters Adlerhorst and the use of the Kransberg Castle in this context. In 1941 the superstructures were dismantled.

Monument protection

The area of the ramparts is a ground monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, and accidental finds are reported to the monument authorities.
