Freisbach is a municipality in the district of Germersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Lingenfeld community .

Freisbach is between Landau , Germersheim , Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and Speyer .

Freisbach is the northernmost municipality in the district of Germersheim and is one of the small towns. The location in the fertile Gäu Plain ( Palatinate Gäu ) and away from the major traffic routes have preserved the village's rural character. Freisbach is now a popular place to live in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

The Auländer, In den Forlen and Lindenhof residential areas also belong to Freisbach .

history

Freisbach was first mentioned in a document in 1179 in the Codex of Abbot Edelin von Weißenburg . Until the late Middle Ages, the residents were able to maintain freedoms similar to an imperial village . The abbey sold its rights to Freisbach in 1482 to the Speyer cathedral chapter.

The local council in Freisbach consists of 16 council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote, and the honorary local mayor Peter Gauweiler as chairman.
