Manfred Meurer (geographer)

Manfred Meurer (born May 22, 1947 in Aachen ; † November 3, 2012 ) was Professor of Geography and Geoecology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology .

Scientific career

Meurer studied geography and biology at RWTH Aachen University and did his doctorate and habilitation in Gießen with a high-mountain ecological and pasture ecological work. From 1988 to 1992 he was professor of physical geography and geoecology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt . Meurer has been a full professor at the University of Karlsruhe since 1992 and headed the Institute for Geography and Geoecology there until 2009. Manfred Meurer's focus was on pasture and fire ecology as well as urban ecology. Meurer was also considered an expert on Tunisia.
