Tillmann Buttschardt

Tillmann K. Buttschardt (* 1966 in Biberach an der Riss ) is a German geoecologist and professor at the chair for "Applied Landscape Ecology and Spatial Planning" at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

Life

Buttschardt studied Environmental Sciences at the University of Karlsruhe, where he 2000 with the urban ecological theme extensive green roofs and conservation at Manfred Meurer at the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences of the University of Karlsruhe doctorate .

He started his academic career at the University of Karlsruhe . From the winter semester 2007/08 he was a lecturer and since April 2008 as a professor of landscape studies at the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde (FH) until 2008. Today he researches and teaches at the professorship for applied landscape ecology and spatial planning at the Westphalian Wilhelms -University in Münster . He is head of the Institute for Landscape Ecology and deputy member of the Senate of the University of Münster.

Research and Teaching

His scientific focus is urban ecology as well as spatial and environmental planning, especially the scientific analysis of green roofs. Furthermore, Buttschardt is one of the few German-speaking experts for Benin and Burkina Faso .

The main focuses of his working group are:

  • Integrated natural resource management
  • Landscape changes and their recording
  • Modeling of landscapes
  • Transformative approaches in landscape ecology
