Andreas Dittmann

Andreas Dittmann (born May 25, 1959 in Worms ) is a German geographer.

In 1980 he began to study geography at the Philipps University in Marburg and, from 1981, ethnology . He finished his geography studies in 1987 with a diploma thesis "On the paleogeography of the Egyptian Eastern Desert"; He received his PhD in ethnology in Marburg in 1989 with a thesis on “Cooking with Stones - A Contribution to the History of the Development of Food Preparation”.

After graduating, Dittmann moved to the University of Bonn as a research assistant ; after completing his doctorate, he was employed as a research assistant in Bonn , and from 1995 as a research assistant .

In 2001 he completed his habilitation on the “Development and dynamics of central local systems in peripheral high mountains. The Karakoram / Pakistan example ”for geography.

Since 2007 Dittmann has been Professor of Anthropogeography and Geographical Development Research at the University of Giessen.

His ongoing projects include the Westerwald Geopark , ecotourism in the Usambara Mountains and solar energy in desert areas .
