Berstheim - town hall and church

Berstheim is a French commune with 437 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Alsatian department of Bas-Rhin in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

history

Berstheim was first mentioned at the end of the 8th century. In the Middle Ages, the place was a village of the Bailliage de Haguenau , the Ballei around Haguenau and an imperial village until 1713.

In 1914 petroleum was discovered in Bergheim, the first in France.
