Ayaka Kawata (born August 22, 1999 ) is a Japanese middle -distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter distance .

Athletic career

Ayano Shiomi gained her first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2018 in Gifu , where she won the gold medal in the 800-meter run in 2: 04.14 minutes in front of her compatriot Ayano Shiomi . In addition, she also won the Japanese 4 x 400 meter relay in a new championship record of 3: 38.20 minutes. She qualified for the U20 World Championships in Tampere , Finland , where she finished sixth over 800 meters in the final with 2: 03.57 min and was eliminated with the relay in the first round. At the end of August she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , where she finished fifth with the Japanese relay in 3: 34.14 minutes and fourth with the mixed relay.

In 2018, Kawata became Japanese champion in the 400-meter run . She is a student at Higashiosaka College in Osaka .
