Ayano Shiomi ( Japanese 塩 見 綾 乃 , Shiomi Ayano ; born November 26, 1999 in Kyoto Prefecture ) is a Japanese middle -distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter distance .

Athletic career

Ayano Shiomi gained her first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2018 in Gifu , where she won the silver medal in the 800-meter run behind her compatriot Kawata Ayaka in 2: 04.50 minutes . In addition, she also won the Japanese 4 x 400 meter relay in a new championship record of 3: 38.20 minutes. She qualified for the U20 World Championships in Tampere , Finland , where she reached the semifinals over 800 meters and was eliminated with the relay in the first round. At the end of August she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time , where she was fifth over 800 meters in 2: 04.57 minutes and also with the Japanese relay. In the following year, she finished sixth at the Asian Championships in Doha in 2: 07.70 min. At the IAAF World Relays in Yokohama , she and Allon Tatsunami Clay won the bronze medal in the first mixed 2-by-2-by-400-meter relay.

Shiomi is a student at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto .
