Dera Dida ( Amharic ደራ ዲዳ ; born October 26, 1996 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Dera Dida gained her first international experience at the 2015 Cross Country World Championships in Guiyang , where she won the silver medal in the U20 competition in 19:49 minutes and the gold medal in the team competition. The following year, she won the bronze medal in the 5000 meter run at the African Championships in Durban in 15: 15.26 minutes behind the Kenyans Sheila Chepkirui and Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi . At the 2017 World Cross Country Championships in Kampala , she could not finish her race, but secured the silver medal with the team. Over 10,000 meters she also qualified for the World Championships in London , where she finished 14th in 31: 51.75 minutes .

In 2018 she won the 10 km road race in Okpekpe in 33:00 min and at the Africa Games 2019 in Rabat she won the bronze medal in the 10,000 meter run behind her compatriots Tsehay Gemechu and Zeineba Yimer in 31: 58.78 min . Before that, she won the individual silver medal in 36:16 minutes at the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus and secured gold with the team.

In 2016, Dida was the Ethiopian champion in the 5000 meter run and in 2017 over the 10,000 meters.
