Bontu Edao Rebitu (born December 12, 1997 ) is a Bahraini middle and long distance runner of Ethiopian origin.

Athletic career

Bontu Rebitu made an international appearance at the 2014 Arab Junior Championships, where she won the silver medal in the 800-meter run in 2: 11.67 minutes . The following year, she took 20th place in the junior women's race at the 2015 World Cross Country Championships in Guiyang . In the team competition, however, she won the bronze medal. In 2016 she won the Arab Junior Championships in Tlemcen over 3000 and 5000 meters. So she qualified for the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , where she won the bronze medal in 15: 31.93 min. In 2017 she was 65th in the individual race at the World Cross Country Championships in Kampala and won the bronze medal again with the team. In the 5000 meter run she qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated in the first round with 15: 16.70 min . In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and won the bronze medal there in 15: 36.78 minutes behind her compatriot Kalkidan Gezahegne and the Kyrgyz Darja Maslowa . The following year she was 64th at the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus in 40:26 min and won the silver medal behind compatriot Winfred Mutile Yavi at the Asian Championships in Doha in 15: 29.60 min .
