Takamasa Anai ( Japanese 穴 井 隆 将 , Anai Takamasa ; born August 5, 1984 in Ōita ) is a former Japanese judoka . He was world champion in 2010 and third in 2009.

Career

The 1.87 m tall Anai fought in the light heavyweight division, the weight class up to 100 kilograms. In 2002 he won the Junior World Championships in Jeju. In 2004, the Tenri University student took part in the World Student Championships and won the silver medal. In 2005 Anai won the Japanese championships for the first time. At the Asian Championships in Tashkent, he won a bronze medal. In early 2006 he won the Jigoro Kano Cup and shortly afterwards the World Cup tournament in Tbilisi. At the end of 2006 he won the World Student Championships in Suwon. In 2007 Anai became Asian champion in Kuwait. Three months later he won the Universiade 2007 in Bangkok. In 2008 he was defeated in the final of the Japanese championships Keiji Suzuki . Suzuki represented Japan at the Beijing Olympics . At the end of 2008, Anai won the first Grand Slam tournament in Tokyo.

At the beginning of 2009 he won the Grand Slam in Paris . In April he first won the Japanese light heavyweight championships and three weeks later also the open class. At the World Championships in Rotterdam he was defeated in the quarter-finals to the Azerbaijani Elmar Qasımov . Anai won a bronze medal with victories in the round of hope against the Latvian Jevgenijs Borodavko and the Ukrainian Artem Bloschenko . At the end of 2009, Anai lost to the South Korean Hwang Hee-tae in the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Tokyo . 2010 Anai won the Japanese light heavyweight championships and finished third in the open class. In the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Rio de Janeiro, he was defeated by the Belgian Elco van der Geest . At the World Championships in Tokyo he defeated the French Thierry Fabre in the quarter -finals, the Cuban Oreydis Despaigne in the semifinals and the Dutch Henk Grol in the final . Two months later he was defeated in the final of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou to the South Korean Hwang Hee-tae. At the end of the year he won the Tokyo Grand Slam. In 2011, Anai won the Japanese light heavyweight championships and finished second in the open class behind Keiji Suzuki. In June he won the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro. At the World Championships in Paris he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Georgian Irakli Zirekidze . In 2012 he won the Japanese light heavyweight championships. At the Olympic Games in London he was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Czech Lukáš Krpálek . In 2013 Takamasa won the Japanese title in the open class again.
