Distria Krasniqi (born December 10, 1995 ) is a Kosovar judoka . The 2018 European Championship runner-up won a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2019.

Career

Distria Krasniqi fought mostly in the half-light weight, the weight class up to 52 kilograms , until summer 2018 . In 2012 she was third in the U23 European Championships, and in 2013 she won bronze at the Junior European Championships. In 2015 she was again third in the European Junior Championships and shortly afterwards she won the title at the U21 World Championships. In 2016 she was the U23 European champion. In 2017 she finished seventh at both the European Championships and the World Championships , and at the U23 European Championships she successfully defended her title from the previous year. In 2018 she reached the final at the European Championships in Tel Aviv by beating the Turkish Irem Korkmaz in the semi- final and then lost to the Russian Natalja Kusjutina . Two months later she defeated Irem Korkmaz in the semi-finals of the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona. In the final she won against the Italian Odette Giuffrida .

After that, Distria Krasniqi switched to the super lightweight, the weight class up to 48 kilograms. As a result, she avoided Majlinda Kelmendi , the 2016 Olympic champion in the light weight division, and Nora Gjakova , the European light weight champion 2018 in the qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games . At the end of 2018, Krasniqi took second place in her new weight class at the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi behind the Mongolian Mönchbatyn Urantsetseg . Shortly afterwards she won the Grand Prix tournament in Tashkent. At the beginning of 2019 she was second behind the Japanese Ami Kondo at the Grand Slam tournament in Paris. At the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo, Krasniqi won the quarter-finals against the Argentine Paula Pareto . After her semi-final defeat against the Japanese Funa Tonaki , the Kosovar won the battle for a bronze medal against the Spanish Laura Martínez .
