Kim Min-jong (born September 1, 2000 ) is a South Korean judoka . He was third in the heavyweight championship in 2019, the weight class over 100 kilograms.
Athletic career
Kim won the U18 Asian Championships in 2016, and in 2017 and 2018 he won the U21 Asian Championships. In 2017 he also won the gold medal at the Cadet World Championships. In 2018 he won the adult class at the Asian Open in Hong Kong, and in 2019 he won the Hohhot Grand Prix. At the Universiade 2019 in Naples he was defeated in the semifinals to the Russian Ruslan Shachbasov and received a bronze medal in the end. At the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo , he defeated the German Johannes Frey in the second round and the Brazilian David Moura in the quarter-finals . After his semi-final defeat against the Czech Lukáš Krpálek , Kim secured a bronze medal by beating the Brazilian Rafael Silva . A month and a half later he was defeated by the Hungarian Richard Sipocz in the quarter-finals of the Junior World Championships , and after two wins in the round of hope, Kim received a bronze medal here too.
