Tsukasa Yoshida

Tsukasa Yoshida ( Japanese 芳 田 司 Yoshida Tsukasa ; born October 5, 1995 ) is a Japanese judoka . She was world champion in 2018, in 2017 and 2019 she was second in the world championship.

Athletic career

Tsukasa Yoshida fights in the lightweight, the weight class up to 57 kilograms. In 2011 she was third in the U17 World Championships. In 2012 she was Junior Asian Champion.

In 2014 she took third place at the Grand Slam tournament in Tokyo , in 2015 she won the Grand Slam tournament in Tyumen with a final victory over Romanian Corina Stefan and at the tournament in Tokyo with a final victory over French Hélène Receveaux . In April 2016, she won the Japanese championships. Later in the year she won three Grand Slam tournaments: In Baku she won the final against the British Nekoda Smythe-Davis , in Tyumen against the Russian Daria Meschetskaja and in Tokyo against her compatriot Nae Udaka . In 2017, Yoshida finished third at the Grand Slam tournament in Paris and at the Japanese championships. At the Asian Championships in Hong Kong, she won the title against the South Korean Kwon You-jeong . At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, she defeated Taiwanese Lien Chenling in the quarter-finals and Hélène Receveaux in the semi-finals. In the final she was defeated by the Mongolian Dorjsurengiin Sumjaa . At the end of 2017, she won the Grand Slam tournament in Tokyo ahead of her compatriot Anzu Yamamoto .

At the beginning of the year, Yoshida lost to the Canadian Christa Deguchi in the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Paris . At the Japanese championships, she took third place. In September at the 2018 World Championships in Baku, she defeated Kwon You-jeong in the quarter-finals and Christa Deguchi in the semi-finals. With her final victory over Nekoda Smythe-Davis she was world champion. In 2019 she won the Grand Slam tournament in Düsseldorf against the Brazilian Rafaela Silva and won the Japanese championships. In the final of the Grand Slam tournament in Baku, she met Rafaela Silva again and this time lost. At the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo , she defeated Julia Kowalczyk from Poland in the quarter-finals and Rafaela Silva in the semifinals. She lost the final to Christa Deguchi.
