The Gedrehtlappige dandelion ( Taraxacum tortilobum ) is a plant from the genus dandelion ( Taraxacum ) within the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).

description

Vegetative characteristics

The twisted lobed dandelion grows as a perennial herbaceous plant .

The leaves are light green, curled and lobed. The lateral lobes are protruding to bent back, strongly toothed, curled triangular to broadly lanceolate. The plant has long, narrow, dark purple petioles.

Generative characteristics

The flowering period extends from mid to late April, and a little earlier in warmer years. The flowers stand together in flower heads. Taraxacum tortilobum has an olive-green, frosted shell. The outer bracts of the flower are eifrömig to eilanzettlich, loose-fitting or upright spreading, relatively wide white or pink edged and humped up horned (calluses). The flowers are deep yellow. The stigma are dark green.

An important distinguishing feature of calluses dandelions are the achenes , which in Taraxacum tortilobum are beige in color, similar to the species of meadow dandelion . They are 3 to 3.5 mm long, the pyramid 1 to 1.3 mm long and almost cylindrical.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Occurrence

Distribution in Germany

The twisted lobed dandelion occurs all over Germany. It is very rare in eastern Germany and in the south of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria (Hammel 2019).

Distribution in Europe

The species occurs in northern and central Europe. Taraxacum tortilobum is absent in the Mediterranean region (Doll 1974: 111).

Location requirements

The plant grows in Germany in wasteland, on pastures and in semi-arid grasslands. Occurrences in and on the edge of shear lawns are relatively common.

Systematics

The first description of Taraxacum tortilobum was made in 1914 by the Swede Bruno Florström.

The species belongs to the section of the calluses dandelions ( Taraxacum sect. Erythrosperma ) in the genus Taraxacum .
