Míriam Guadalupe Blasco Soto (born December 12, 1963 in Valladolid ) is a former Spanish judoka and politician of the Partido Popular .

Life

At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, ​​she won the gold medal in the weight class up to 56 kilograms. At the Judo World Championships she won the bronze medal in Belgrade in 1989 and the gold medal in Barcelona in 1991. At the European Judo Championships she won a total of five medals, including the gold medal in Prague in 1991.

After the end of her sporting career, Blasco became involved in politics and became a member of the Partido Popular . As a senator, she sat for her party in the Spanish Senate from 2000 to 2012. Blasco is married to the British judoka Nicola Fairbrother and lives in Alicante .
