Béatrice Rodriguez

Béatrice Rodriguez (born October 19, 1959 ) is a former French judoka . She won a world title and was three times European champion.

Athletic career

Béatrice Rodriguez fought in the lightweight, the weight class up to 56 kilograms. She was French champion in this weight class in 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985 and 1986.

At the European Championships in Oslo in 1982 , she won the title in front of the Swede Rebecca Limerick . In December 1982 the second world championships took place in Paris . Rodriguez defeated the British Diane Bell in the semifinals and won the title by beating Australian Suzanne Williams . At the European Championships in Genoa in 1983 Rodriguez lost to Gerda Winklbauer from Austria in the semifinals , and by defeating the Swiss Inge Krasser, the French won a bronze medal. She also won bronze the following year at the European Championships in Pirmasens. At the end of 1984 she became the student world champion. In 1985 at the European Championships in Landskrona, Rodriguez defeated Diane Bell in the semifinals and received gold after her final victory over Gerda Winklbauer. In the following year, she defeated the Polish Maria Gontowicz in the semifinals of the 1986 European Championships in London and the Italian Domenica Soraci in the final . In October at the 1986 World Championships in Maastricht, she lost in the quarter-finals to Gontowicz, in the battle for bronze she won against Soraci. At the French championships in 1987 Rodriguez lost in the final against Catherine Arnaud , who then competed for France at the international championships.
